Heavenly Father, thank You for the dedicated teachers in our schools who spend so much time outside of the regular school day preparing lesson plans, correcting papers, completing reports and attending the activities of the students they teach. Bless them with understanding and loving families who support their efforts to be the best teachers they can be. May our students see in their teachers a reflection of the love that You have for them; through Jesus Christ, our Lord.

Heavenly Father, bless the work of those responsible for the maintenance of our schools.  May they, in their vocation, provide an environment that is conducive to teaching and learning. Grant that we find opportunities to express our appreciation for the service they provide our schools; through Jesus Christ, our Lord.

And I heard a voice from heaven saying, “Write this: Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from no on.” “Blessed indeed,” says the Spirit, “that they may rest from their labors, for their deeds follow them!” (Revelation 14:13 ESV)

Almighty God, in whose glorious presence live all who depart in the Lord, we give You hearty thanks for Your loving-kindness to all Your servants who have finished their course in faith now rest from their labors. We humbly implore Your mercy that we, together with all who have departed in the saving faith, may have our perfect consummation and bliss in both body and soul in Your eternal and everlasting glory; through Jesus Christ, Your Son, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.

Almighty and gracious Lord, pour out Your Holy Spirit on Your faithful people. Keep us steadfast in Your grace and truth, protect and deliver us in times of temptation, defend us against all enemies, and grant to Your Church Your saving peace; through Jesus Christ, Your Son, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. (Collect for Reformation Day)

Lord Jesus, in Your ministry You taught by word and example. Grant Your blessing to the teachers in our schools.  Renew their love for education and give them joy in their vocation. Bless them with the wisdom to use the skills and knowledge which You have given them to the best of their ability. By their example, instill in their students a desire to learn that they may diligently apply themselves to grow in wisdom and knowledge; through Jesus Christ, our Lord.

Heavenly Father, as teachers and students return from a time of fun and refreshment, invigorate them for their day-to-day education. Instill in our students a desire to learn that they may be fully equipped to meet the challenges of life beyond school. Grant unto our teachers the willingness to listen to the concerns and questions of their students that they may develop the best possible learning opportunities for them; through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Almighty and everlasting God, You knit together Your faithful people of all times and places into one holy communion, the mystical body of Your Son, Jesus Christ. Grant us so to follow Your blessed saints in all virtuous and godly living that, together with them, we may come to the unspeakable joys You have prepared for those who love You; through Jesus Christ, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. (Collect for All Saints’ Day)

Now when those hired first came, they thought they would receive more, but each of them also received a denarius. And on receiving it they grumbled at the master of the house, saying, ‘These last worked only one hour, and you have made them equal to us who have borne the burden of the day and the scorching heat.’ But he replied to one of them, ‘Friend, I am doing you no wrong. Did you not agree with me for a denarius? Take what belongs to you and go. I choose to give to this last worker as I give to you. Am I not allowed to do what I choose with what belongs to me? Or do you begrudge my generosity?’ So the last will be first, and the first last.” (Matthew 20:1-16)

O Lord God, who deals with us according to grace and mercy and not what we have done, bless our students with faith to believe that while the grades they receive reflect what they do academically, they receive from You eternal blessings for the sake of Your Son Jesus who died and rose again and now lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.
