Heavenly Father, guard and protect our schools from anything harmful. Keep our students safe from emotional, mental, and physical bullying. Bring love and compassion into the lives of those who bully others that they might be turned from their cruelty to show respect for those around them; through Jesus Christ, our Lord.

Heavenly Father, You are not a God of chaos, but of order. Grant order to our schools that our students may be free from unnecessary distractions as they learn. Thwart the attempts of students to be disruptive in class. Defeat the intentions of "bullies." Bless the efforts of teachers and administrators to create an environment of respect within our schools; through Jesus Christ, our Lord.

Immediately he made the disciples get into the boat and go before him to the other side, while he dismissed the crowds. And after he had dismissed the crowds, he went up on the mountain by himself to pray. When evening came, he was there alone, but the boat by this time was a long way from the land, beaten by the waves, for the wind was against them. And in the fourth watch of the night he came to them, walking on the sea. But when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were terrified, and said, “It is a ghost!” and they cried out in fear. But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying, “Take heart; it is I. Do not be afraid.”

And Peter answered him, “Lord, if it is you, command me to come to you on the water.” He said, “Come.” So Peter got out of the boat and walked on the water and came to Jesus. But when he saw the wind, he was afraid, and beginning to sink he cried out, “Lord, save me.” Jesus immediately reached out his hand and took hold of him, saying to him, “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?” And when they got into the boat, the wind ceased. And those in the boat worshiped him, saying, “Truly you are the Son of God.” (Matthew 14:22-33)

Heavenly Father, health issues, family and relationship difficulties, and financial concerns are just a few of the struggles those in our schools face which turn the focus away from education. As they are buffeted by these issues and more, calm their troubled minds and hearts by the work of Your Holy Spirit. According to the promises in Your Word, answer them when they call upon You, grant them relief from their distress, and turn their eyes to see and trust in Your Son, Jesus, who grants true peace; through the same Jesus Christ, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.

Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant in search of fine pearls, who finding one pearl of great value, went and sold all that he had and bought it.” (Matthew 13:45-46)
O Lord Jesus, by your suffering and death, you paid for the sins of the whole world and bought us back from sin, death, and the devil. Grant that our students know the great value you place on them; for you live and reign with the Father and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.

And he called the people to him and said to them, “Hear and understand: it is not what goes into the mouth that defiles a person, but what comes out of the mouth; this defiles a person.” Then the disciples came and said to him, “Do you know that the Pharisees were offended when they heard this saying?” He answered, “Every plant that my heavenly Father has not planted will be rooted up. Let them alone; they are blind guides. And if the blind lead the blind, both will fall into a pit.” But Peter said to him, “Explain the parable to us.” And he said, “Are you also still without understanding? Do you not see that whatever goes into the mouth passes into the stomach and is expelled? But what comes out of the mouth proceeds from the heart, and this defiles a person. For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false witness, slander. These are what defile a person. But to eat with unwashed hands does not defile anyone.” (Matthew 15:10-20 ESV)

O Lord Jesus, send Your Holy Spirit to dwell within all who are part of our schools that they may be firmly grounded in Your Word, and with pure minds and clean hearts, think, say, and do what is pleasing to you; for You live and reign with the Father and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.

Almighty God, our Father, Your blessed Son called Luke the physician to be an evangelist and physician of the soul. Grant that the healing medicine of the Gospel and the Sacraments may put to flight the diseases of our souls that with willing hearts we may ever love and serve You, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.

Lord God our Father, as our schools enter Fall Break, grant rest and relaxation to our students, staff, teachers, administrators and their families. May this break be an opportunity for families to reconnect with one another. Keep all harm and danger away from those who travel and bring them safely home. Bring all Your people at last to our heavenly home, where You dwell in glory with Your Son and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.
