As we mark the sixteenth anniversary of the terrorist attack upon our nation and as threats of more attacks are faced each day, today these prayers are offered also for our nation:

Gracious God, heavenly Father, as we commemorate the anniversary of the terrorist attacks on our nation, we pray for Your care for those who continue to suffer or grieve. Mercifully embrace those who continue to rebuild their lives from this senseless attack. Give them the hope that only You can provide in Christ Jesus. As our students learn of this event in school, remind them also of the need for Your grace and mercy in their lives.  Hinder every act of evil and terrorism, and bring an end to all violence and bloodshed in our world.  Remind us that we have a better country, that is, a heavenly one that awaits all who trust in the redeeming sacrifice of Your Son, Jesus, upon the cross of Calvary; through the same Jesus Christ, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.

Heavenly Father, You provide rest for our body and soul.  With our students involved in school activities, sports, work, and spending time on school work, the days become long and the nights short. According to Your will, provide adequate physical and mental rest for our students that they may be alert in the classroom and put forth their best effort on their assignments; through Jesus Christ, our Lord.

O Spirit of Wisdom, grant Your blessing to the Guidance Counselors and Social Workers who work with our students.  Give them hearts full of compassion as they listen to the concerns of our students.  Give them wisdom to provide appropriate and useful counsel as they work to improve the lives of our students.  Above all, as they empathize with the students they care for, sustain and strengthen them in their own lives that they not become overwhelmed by the service they provide; through Jesus Christ, our Lord.

Lord Jesus Christ, as once You shared in our human toil and thus hallowed the work of our hands, bless our students in their education that they may be equipped to enter the workforce and be a blessing to the industries and service sectors of this land.  We give thanks for the labor of our teachers and the service they provide to our students.  Grant them just reward for their work that they may find joy in the success of their students; through Jesus Christ, our Lord.

Lord God, our Father, You kept Abraham and Sarah in safety throughout the days of their pilgrimage, You led the children of Israel through the midst of the sea, and by a star You led the Wise Men to the infant Jesus. Protect all who travel to and from our schools, especially those with little driving experience.  During this Labor Day Weekend, keep all drivers alert and focused on the task of driving. Make their ways safe and their homecomings joyful; through Jesus Christ, our Lord.

Heavenly Father, open the minds of our students that they grow in knowledge and wisdom. Bless the skills of our teachers that they provide the best possible learning experience for their students. Guide the administrators to make wise decisions which will benefit our schools.  Bless our schools according to Your will; through Jesus Christ, our Lord.

Heavenly Father, bless our industrial and vocational tech students. As they learn life skills and develop their abilities through actual hands-on experiences, protect them from accident and injury. Grant that these experiences provide them with a solid foundation for entering the workforce and being productive throughout their lives; through Jesus Christ, our Lord.

Heavenly Father, as the superintendent and principals of our schools have the responsibility to oversee all aspects of the education of our students, grant them all the gifts necessary for the administration of their duties that our schools may be an environment where quality education takes place. Bless especially the administrators of all the schools affected by Hurricane Harvey as they determine the best approach to the education of their students. Bless those students who have lost their homes and possessions due to the flooding. Grant that they may know Your loving care through the actions of those who volunteer to help in the recovery and rebuilding efforts; through Jesus Christ, our Lord.
