And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Sond] from the Father, full of grace and truth. (John 1:14)

SCRIPTURE READINGS

HYMNS FOR THE WEEK

Christmas day

Sermon

Please read the note below from Pastor Woodhouse regarding his sermon:

One of the repeated themes in Holy Scripture involves the inability for sinful man to look directly at our purely holy God. In the Old Testament, God appears to His faithful people from within a burning bush, a pillar of cloud, a cloud of incense and other forms that obscure His full glory from humanity, who cannot behold it in their sinful state, lest they die.

On Christmas, we recognize God appears again to us, but this time God Himself takes on human flesh to live among us, to teach us, and ultimately to sacrifice Himself for our benefit. But as John reminds us in the opening of his Gospel, the infant whose birth we celebrate on this day is truly God. The Light of the World has come to earth, and we can see and know our God by beholding Jesus Christ!
