Sermon Starter
It’s important that an angel of the Lord appeared to the shepherds while they were watching their flocks at night. They were faithfully doing the work God had given them to do, however lowly and despised the job. Those who are faithful in the little things God entrusts to them will find that there are greater things He wants to do through them. Those who serve God in the common places of everyday life will be brought to glorify Him for His mightiest works. When we faithfully wait on the Lord, we will never be ashamed.
Collect of the Day
O God, You make this most holy night to shine with the brightness of the true Light. Grant that as we have known the mysteries of that Light on earth we may also come to the fullness of His joys in heaven; through the same Jesus Christ, Your Son, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.
