Sermon
Please read the note below from Pastor Woodhouse regarding his sermon:
Holy Week begins with the commemoration of Christ’s triumphal entry into Jerusalem, where the crowds that had been following Him welcome Him into the city as their true Savior and King. But as we know very well, we will end the week remembering Christ’s crucifixion, where He was lifted on the cross under a sign proclaiming Him to be King of the Jews.
Palm Sunday gives us an opportunity to marvel at the stark and sudden reversal of emotions we might feel as we remember the last week leading up to our Savior’s death on the cross. But we also remember that the events we are about to recount are all a part of God’s plan for our salvation – an illustration of God in His fullest glory and majesty. And whether we witness Christ praised and welcomed – or persecuted and executed – we can remember this one theme that remains: He is King!
