The epiphany of our lord
Sermon
Please read the note below from Pastor Woodhouse regarding his sermon:
During the Christmas season, we often hear about all of the promises and prophecies of the Old Testament: God’s promise to save His chosen people from their sins and restore them to everlasting life with Him. But sometimes, all of this talk about God’s chosen people might lead us to wonder whether or not we are personally included in the recipients of God’s promise. After all, throughout the Old Testament, it is clear that God’s chosen people are the people of Israel: descendants of Abraham and Jacob.
The Gospels give us plenty of examples of Jesus teaching and healing Gentiles – outsiders from the Jewish faith. But the Epiphany season is a blessing given to us to ensure us that the salvation won by Jesus Christ is not limited only to the chosen people of Israel. It was meant for all people, even from the very beginning. Rejoice, Christians… God has chosen you, too!
