Sermon
Please read the note below from Pastor Woodhouse regarding his sermon:
Our epistle reading for this week, partly from 1 Corinthians 13, is mostly familiar to us as one of the most often-read Scripture passages for weddings. It does present a comforting and beautiful picture of love, but Paul certainly does not intend it only to talk about romantic love between a husband and wife. Instead, he means to describe the love that all followers of Christ should have for one another. And he challenges us to understand that the value of love endures forever, even when faith and hope might eventually diminish in value. Indeed, if we want to understand what the Bible means when it declares that God is love, we’d do well to consider what Paul has to say about love, rather than what the world thinks it knows about love. And above all, as we grow in understanding and living in love, we turn first and foremost to our Savior, Jesus Christ, who personifies the love we are praying to exhibit.
