the resurrection of our lord (easter sunday)
Sermon Starter
Do you consider yourself a person of integrity? Would you stand before God and declare, as King David does in Psalm 41:12, “You have upheld me because of my integrity, and set me in Your presence forever”? Certainly, no one has earned a place before God’s throne on the grounds of an upright character, “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23). Yet God has given this psalm that His Church may pray it. Do not be afraid to make it your own; Christ was raised for just that purpose. For in Christ, the Father has indeed raised you up with Him and seated you in the heavenly places.
Collect of the Day
Almighty God the Father, through Your only-begotten Son, Jesus Christ, You have overcome death and opened the gate of everlasting life to us. Grant that we, who celebrate with joy the day of our Lord’s resurrection, may be raised from the death of sin by Your life-giving Spirit; through Jesus Christ, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.
