HYMNS FOR THE DAY

second sunday of easter

Sermon

A note from Pastor regarding his sermon:

Each year in the three-year lectionary, we read the same Gospel lesson on the Second Sunday of Easter. That lesson includes the familiar story of “Doubting Thomas,” who was absent the first time the resurrected Jesus appeared to His disciples on the evening of Easter.

There is actually quite a bit going on in this reading, even though it is often overshadowed by the story of Thomas and his doubt. But upon careful reflection, we can see how the story ties together several different things that are relayed in this Gospel reading, so that we can confess along with Thomas that Jesus is “My Lord and my God!”
